The basic rules of filling
To best load your bag, here are some tips:
Prepare your equipment by storing it by theme in plastic bags and distribute the functional equipment by use: the tent constitutes a lot, the stove with the bowls another lot; the refueling must be separated by meal. Place the heaviest objects (tent, stove, food…) the closest to your back,in the bottom of the bag,so as not to offset the center of gravity and to make carrying the bag more difficult. Clothes can be placed around, in a waterproof bag (or trash bag) and will skillfully fill the "holes".
By following these tips, the bag can be filled as follows:
At the bottom of the bag: place the sleeping bag in a plastic bag. For treks in the alpine area, also plan a rope of 20m, with a strap ring and a carabiner.
Above outwards: place your spare clothes in a plastic bag, tongues or kroks, a self-inflatable mattress 1.20 meters long, rolled and positioned vertically.
Against the back: place the stove and a cartridge in the bowl, as well as a plastic bowl and a lighter, one or two supply bags, the collective pharmacy kit.
In the upper part: place your technical clothes, fleece, goretex jacket, technical equipment (helmet, harness …), and possibly the water pocket.
In the side pockets: place gloves, a cap, spare underwear, a small pharmacy kit, a headlamp, Topo guides, cards, and a toiletry kit. You can also place the water bottle in it, thinking of balancing it well so that the bag does not lean to one side.
In the camera pocket: place the camera, GPS or compass, sunglasses, a tube of sunscreen, a cap, a knife and folding cutlery.
In the document pocket: place, in a zippable pouch, the identity card, any pros cards, vital card, credit card, wallet and keys.
