Idea #613 – Visiting the largest Central Asian market in Khodjent
The Panchshanbe Bazaar (Thursday market in Tajik) consists of an elegant hall built in 1964, with vaulted doors and a neoclassical lime-green and lime facade. It is one of the best-supplied Central Asian markets, especially on Thursday, hence its name. Inside, traders are busy; grouped by zoning, you’ll find local and imported fruits and vegetables, dried fruits, breads, meats, local cheeses, elaborate products such as salads or dishes; other sectors concern computer equipment, gardening, pharmacies… that’s to say : the equivalent of a super super market!
