Idea #572 – Exploring the damned graves of Gadara
The antique site of Gadara presents some archaeological originalities which deserve the attention of the visitor. This city is indirectly quoted in the Holy Bible about the cure of the persons possessed who lived in graves and the devils “legions” expelled in the herd of pork, that rushed in the Lake Tiberias and drew themselves there.
In the steps of the history, you have to follow the vestiges of thermal baths and big building which had to be a temple, in front of the door of Tiberias ; you will find there a well-preserved monument, an underground grave of roman time. Other graves, known under the name of graves of Germain and graves of the Modeste, are closed by magnificent doors in basalt, decorated like wooden doors.
