Idea # 290 – Flying on a ultralight gyroplane
The gyrocopter is an aircraft with a ” free rotary wing “. Invented in 1923 by the Spaniard Juan de La Cierva, the autogiro or gyrocopter is taken sustenance by the rotation of a main rotor in the horizontal plan and propelled by a propeller pulled by a small engine in the vertical plan, the direction is assured by a steering and the slope of the plan of lift of the rotor in the horizontal plan. To take off, the blades of the rotor can be for a moment coupled with the engine which pulls normally the propeller. When the rotor reached an important enough speed, the system is disconnected and the rotor turns then in autorotation under the influence of the relative wind caused provoked by the speed, contrary to a helicopter. Let’s go, after supercopter, we are flying on gyrocopter!
