Idea #412 – Visiting the elephant orphanage center in Udawalawe
In Sri Lanka, thousands of elephants, subspecies of the Indian elephant and thus smaller than those of Africa, live in the national parks. Created in 1995, the expedition house of Udawalawe is a pilot project intended to take care of the babies orphan elephants, until they are independent. It counts approximately 60 elephants, sick or orphans, whom we cannot too much approach not to accustom them to the human presence. They are looked after, fed then released. The show of the meal time remains moving and very funny.
